The Lifting Oil Drain is installed in the tubing string at a predetermined depth above the pump.
During Production: The valve remains in the "closed" position, sealed by high-performance O-rings and held by shear pins or a mechanical sleeve.
During Retrieval: When it’s time to pull the pump, the operator applies a specific upward tension (lifting) to the tubing. This action shears the pins or shifts the sliding sleeve, opening the drainage ports.
Fluid Discharge: Once opened, the fluid column inside the tubing drains into the annulus, allowing the string to be pulled dry.

A: Activation force can be controlled easily. The number and material of the shear pins determine the force required to activate the drain valve. Prior to installation, it is possible for you to compute the pull-up force that will be necessary for the well depth and fluid weight you have. Q4: Is the Lifting Oil Drain reusable after the tubing is pulled?

Only sheared pins are to be replaced and the O-rings (sealing elements) should be inspected/replaced after the tubing string is retrieved.
