The Lifting Oil Drain (alias Pull-up Tubing Drain Valve) is an essential component of artificial lift systems, mainly for use in sucker rod pump applications. Essentially, it lets the fluid in the tubing string flow down the casing annulus once the tubing is pulled during a workover.
When operators involve Doushen’s lifting oil drain in the operation, they can guarantee performing a "dry job" which means a dramatic drop in environmental pollution around the wellhead, a safer environment for the crew, and the precious time during maintenance is saved.

Environmentally Friendly:
Prevents oil from spilling on the surface during tubing removal, thus, helping to maintain environmental standards and regulations compliance.
Pressure-Balanced Design:
Featuring our high-level sealing technology, the valve will stay shut and without any leaks during normal pumping processes even if internal pressure changes arise.
Easy to Use:
Basically, it gets activated by just raising the tubing string and in many cases, there will be no need for anymore tools or complicated "drop-bar" methods.
API 11AX & ISO 9001 Certified:
Made to rigorous quality control standards and tolerating tough downhole environments (H2S, CO2, and high temperature).
Robust Construction:
The product consists of heavy-duty alloy steel (e.g. 42CrMo) along with targeted surface treatments delivering the best wear and corrosion resistance.

The Lifting Oil Drain is installed in the tubing string at a predetermined depth above the pump.
During Production: The valve remains in the "closed" position, sealed by high-performance O-rings and held by shear pins or a mechanical sleeve.
During Retrieval: When it’s time to pull the pump, the operator applies a specific upward tension (lifting) to the tubing. This action shears the pins or shifts the sliding sleeve, opening the drainage ports.
Fluid Discharge: Once opened, the fluid column inside the tubing drains into the annulus, allowing the string to be pulled dry.

Q1: What sizes of tubing is this Lifting Oil Drain compatible with?
A: Dongsheng’s lifting oil drains are designed to fit standard API tubing strings. We offer sizes for 2-3/8", 2-7/8", and 3-1/2" EUE or NUE tubing. If you have specialized casing or tubing requirements, we also provide custom-engineered drainage solutions to meet your specific oilfield dimensions.
Q2: Can this oil drain valve be used in H2S (Sour Service) or CO2 environments?
A: Yes. We understand the challenges of harsh downhole conditions. For sour service (H2S) or high-corrosion environments, we manufacture the drain valve using NACE MR0175 compliant materials (such as high-grade stainless steel or specially heat-treated alloy steel) and premium seals to ensure long-term durability and prevent hydrogen embrittlement.
Q3: How do I adjust the opening pressure/force of the lifting oil drain?
A: The activation force is controlled by the number and material of the shear pins. Before installation, you can calculate the required pull-up force based on your well depth and fluid weight. Dongsheng provides a detailed Shear Pin Force Chart with every shipment to help you set the precise breaking point for reliable drainage.
Q4: Is the Lifting Oil Drain reusable after the tubing is pulled?
A: Absolutely. Our lifting oil drains are designed for multi-cycle use. After the tubing string is retrieved, you simply need to replace the sheared pins and inspect/replace the O-rings (sealing elements). Once serviced, the tool is ready to be re-run into the well, making it a cost-effective choice for long-term operations.
Q5: What are the main advantages of a Pull-up Drain vs. a Drop-bar Drain?
A: The Lifting (Pull-up) Oil Drain is often preferred because it doesn't require dropping a heavy bar from the surface, which can sometimes get stuck or damage the pump. It provides a more controlled activation by using the rig’s hoisting system, ensuring a "dry job" and preventing oil spills on the workover floor more reliably.
Q6: Does this product meet API 11AX standards?
A: Yes, Dongsheng Machinery is an ISO 9001 and API compliant manufacturer. Every lifting oil drain undergoes rigorous pressure testing and material certification to ensure it meets the highest safety and performance standards required in global oilfield operations.

As a leading manufacturer of sucker rod pump parts in China, Doushen Machinery provides customized solutions for global oilfield service companies. Our lifting oil drains are field-proven in major oil basins for their reliability and ease of use.
