In the field of industrial fluid delivery, pumps, as key power equipment, support the operation of multiple industries. According to the basic theory classification of pumps, its core types can be divided into three categories according to the working principle: positive displacement pumps, dynamic pumps and other types of pumps. Among them, tubing pumps used in oil extraction are an important branch of positive displacement pumps and have become the core equipment for oilfield development.
1. The three mainstream insert rod pump lay the foundation for industrial transportation:
In the classification system of pumps, the working principle is the core classification standard:
Positive displacement pumps realize fluid delivery through periodic changes in the volume of working parts, and rely on extrusion to directly increase the liquid pressure energy. They are divided into two categories: reciprocating pumps and rotary pumps. Tubing pumps belong to the category of reciprocating positive displacement pumps.
Power pumps transmit mechanical energy by means of high-speed rotation of the impeller, also known as impeller pumps, centrifugal pumps and axial flow pumps are all of this type. They are characterized by continuous delivery and stable flow. They are widely used in water supply and drainage scenarios.
Other types of pumps cover special principle equipment such as jet pumps and electromagnetic pumps. For example, jet pumps lead jet bodies through high-speed jets, which are suitable for conveying special media.
These three types of pump types are adapted to different pressure and flow requirements, among which the irreplaceability of tubing pumps in the field of crude oil extraction is particularly prominent.

2. Insert rod pump:
Insert rod pump, also known as tubular pump, is a positive displacement reciprocating pump specially designed for oil and gas extraction. Its structure and performance are perfectly adapted to the complex underground environment. According to the technical data of Changsha Zhonglian Pump Industry, insert rod pump adopts the unique structure of “outer cylinder pre-assembled + piston down”. After assembling the outer cylinder, the bushing and the suction valve are connected to the tubing down into the well, and then the piston with the discharge valve is fed into the pump body through the sucker rod. The piston with the discharge valve is fed into the pump body.
This design gives insert rod pump three core advantages: first, the diameter of the insert rod pump is larger under the same tubing diameter, and the displacement is significantly better than that of similar rod pumps; second, the ring groove on the piston surface can gather sand particles and store lubricating oil, effectively improving wear resistance; third, the structure is simple and low cost, which fits the needs of large-scale applications in oil fields. However, its inspection insert rod pump needs to lift and lower the tubing, which is more suitable for shallow and medium-yield wells and high-yield well scenarios.
In practical applications, insert rod pump needs to meet the stringent requirements of downhole working conditions: it can withstand pressures above 10MPa, has sand resistance, gas resistance, and corrosion resistance, and its specifications need to match the amount of liquid discharged from the oil well.At present, mainstream tubing pumps are mostly used with oil drains. By opening the oil drains to remove the oil stored in the tubing, the problem of low efficiency of traditional salvage suction valve pumps is solved.
3. Technological upgrading to promote the expansion of tubing pump applications:
Industry data show that in oil fields with an output of more than 30 tons/day, the application of insert rod pump accounts for more than 60%, and its advantages of simple structure and large displacement have become the key to cost reduction and efficiency. As the core type of insert rod pump, tubing pumps directly affect the output and mining efficiency of oil wells, and are the key direction of oilfield equipment upgrading.
