Sucker Rod Pump Basic Parameters Introduction:
1.There are two ways to harden the pump barrel of sucker rod pump:chrome plating and carburizing.
The chrome plating hardness is HV100900-1160, and the minimum thickness of the coating is 0.076mm; 45 steel is used, and the maximum length is 10.5 meters; high hardness, wear resistance, dense coating, corrosion resistance, and long service life are the pump barrel hardening methods commonly used at home and abroad.
Carburizing hardness: the minimum hardness is 690 Knoop at 0.005in from the single edge surface, and the minimum hardness is 466 Knoop at 0.010in from the single edge surface. The pump barrel matrix is made of 1020 steel, with a maximum length of 24ft; the carburized pump barrel has good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high fatigue resistance and other advantages, and is suitable for oil production in special well conditions such as high sand content wells, heavy oil wells, deep wells, large displacement wells, inclined wells, and horizontal wells.
The wall thickness of the pump barrel includes standard pump barrels, and special size pump barrels can also be customized according to user needs. The inner bore of the pump barrel is not hardened (not treated).
The specification stipulates the treatment methods of the pump barrel: chrome plating, carburizing, carbonitriding, nickel-carbon compound plating, nitriding, induction quenching; pump barrel materials: carbon steel, chrome steel, low alloy steel, brass, Monel alloy.
2. Plunger for oil well hardening method:
The outer surface of the plunger for oil well is sprayed with Ni60 alloy powder; the conventional plunger length is 4ft, and the length of the plunger for oil well can be manufactured according to the well conditions of the oil well. The maximum length of the long plunger for oil well produced is 41ft. Plunger For Oil Well has two types: with sand prevention groove and without sand prevention groove (bare rod plunger). The API SPEC 11AX specification is without sand prevention groove. The domestic application of plungers with sand prevention groove is more, and foreign users use plungers without sand prevention groove.
There are two types of API standard spray-welded plunger for oil well hardness: ≥HV200484, ≥HV200595; minimum thickness of spray-welded layer ≥0.203mm. Chrome-plated plunger hardness: HV100832-1160, minimum coating thickness: 0.152mm, double chrome plating 0.305mm. Plunger length calculation: Internal thread plunger length = full foot X304.8mm, 3 feet = 914.4mm, 4 feet = 1219.2mm, 5 feet = 1524mm. External thread plunger length = full foot X304.8mm + 76.2 + total length of threads at both ends (thread length + undercut length).
3. Sucker rod pump valve pair:
Sucker rod pump valve pair includes stainless steel (conventional valve pair, general corrosion resistance, specific gravity 8g/cm3), hard alloy (tungsten carbide - tungsten with cobalt as binder, nickel carbide - tungsten with nickel as binder, titanium carbide - tungsten and titanium carbide with cobalt as binder, good corrosion resistance, specific gravity about 14.5g/cm3)), ceramic (best corrosion resistance, not suitable for deep wells), Stellite (good corrosion resistance, low hardness) and other materials. Our company can configure according to requirements (oil well conditions).
Stainless steel: Regulations (API) sucker rod pump valve ball hardness HRC58-65, Sucker Rod Pump valve seat hardness HRC52-56.
Hard alloy: Generally sucker rod pump valve ball is made of titanium carbide, hardness HRA89-90.5; Sucker rod pump valve seat is made of tungsten carbide, hardness HRA88-89.5.
The maximum roundness error of the Sucker rod pump valve ball is 0.0001in, the maximum surface roughness is 5Ra, the diameter tolerance of the valve ball with a diameter less than 2in is ±0.001in, and the diameter tolerance of the Sucker rod pump valve ball with a diameter greater than or equal to 2in is ±0.002in.
4. Sucker rod pump barrel plunger clearance has 5 levels:
Level 1 clearance: 0.0010-0.0035in;
Level 2 clearance: 0.0020-0.0045in;
Level 3 clearance: 0.0030-0.0055in;
Level 4 clearance: 0.0040-0.0065in;
Level 5 clearance: 0.0050-0.0075in.
API SPEC 11AX does not specify the clearance of Sucker rod pump, which is determined by the user according to the oil well working conditions, so foreign users often have different sizes (unconventional) clearance requirements. According to the theory of OIL WELL Company in the United States: the plunger and the pump barrel are non-contact reciprocating clearance seals, although a certain amount of leakage will occur, it can play a role in lubrication and cooling; in most cases, 2-5% leakage will achieve a better lubrication effect. Through the friction test of plunger and pump barrel conducted by Tianjin University in China, it is known that the wear amount of dry friction is more than 3 times that of wet friction. Leakage can extend the wear life of the friction pair of plunger pump barrel.

6. Bore gauge size:
Length not less than 4ft, the basic outer diameter size is No. 1 plunger (base pump size of oil well pump -0.0010in), and the tolerance is -0.0002in.
7. Leakage test:
API specification does not require leakage; GB/T18607 recommends leakage test as a recommended test, and indicates that leakage cannot be used as the final basis for determining the fit clearance. The test pressure is not less than 10MPa, the medium is No. 0 or -10 light diesel, the plunger seal section is 1200mm, and the kinematic viscosity of light diesel at 20℃ is 3-8mm2/s.
Pump assembly sealing test: At a test pressure not less than the specified pressure, maintain the pressure for 3 minutes, and the pressure drop does not exceed 0.5MPa.

a. Sucker rod pump barrels are generally made of ordinary carbon steel. The downhole depth given in the table is designed and calculated based on the strength of ordinary carbon steel.
b. By increasing the wall thickness of the pump barrel, increasing the thread size, using alloy steel, adopting a suspended pump structure, and improving the strength of the plunger assembly, the purpose of increasing the strength of the pump barrel and plunger assembly is achieved, so that the downhole depth of the Sucker rod pump is increased; by taking corresponding measures, the downhole depth can be increased by 500-1500 meters based on the data in the table.
c. Other factors affecting the downhole depth of the Sucker rod pump: sucker rod strength and combination, maximum load of the pumping unit, etc.
